When was the last time someone asked you, ‘what do you want to be the BEST in the world at’?  If I had to guess, I’d bet you’ve either never been asked OR you were a little kid!  Take the easy road to mediocrity.  Don’t stand out, it’s better to live in a state of average.  Do your best.  Oh, and let’s not forget the land of trophies for participation.

I think my grandma would say, “hog-wash”!

Did you know that you were created with greatness in mind?  You won the first race, arguably the most important, you ever entered?  You fought hard to be #1.  To finish in first place.  To be THE BEST!

Do you remember?

If you’re like me, I didn’t remember that first race.  The struggle, the fight, the drive, the dedication until Bo Eason reminded me, “the odds were against you 300 million to 1 and you won.  300 million sperm to 1 and you are here.”

For as long as I live, I will never forget him saying that and the impact it had on me in that moment.  It was the moment when I realized, my Creator created me with greatness in mind and it is my responsibility to be the BEST with the talents He has given me.

It’s time to put pen to paper, this will take more than 15 minutes and it may very well take several attempts as you begin to build this muscle, this concept of being the BEST.  It’s best broken down into 2 parts; what are you in pursuit of and what do you want to be the BEST at?

What are you in the pursuit of?

I find this question to be a great place to start because most of us know what we are in the pursuit of; happiness, success, freedom, peace, abundance.   I often refer to these as Power Words.  I call them that because once you have identified them as what you are in pursuit of it makes decision making so much easier.  Your turn… what are you in pursuit of?

What do you want to be the BEST at?

There doesn’t have to be “One” thing you want to be the BEST at. Clearly there are different aspects of your life that you focus your attention on: your career, being a parent, being a wife, sister, daughter, friend. And then there are layers of each of these various focuses in your life. For example, if you want to be the BEST wife, what does that entail?  Don’t focus on being the BEST at everything, just pick the top three such as; being the most sought after photographer in the Pacific Northwest, a New York Times Best Seller, the best lover, having the best relationship with your kids.

So, I ask you… what do you want to be the BEST at?

Next Steps

As we conclude this 3-part series, the goal is to continue to work toward expressing yourself in these answers until you reach a point where you are inspired, devoted, and committed to living in your Life Declaration.

Once you’ve completed answering all the question, I encourage you to grab a piece of drawing paper and some markers and draw your Life Declaration (like the ones I have shared with you in this series).  It’s powerful!

Your final action is to share it with others!

I’d love to hear about your experience with Crafting Your Life Declaration, I read and reply personally to all emails (cjmcdonald@shedaredto.com).

A life declaration without action is meaningless.  Go out and Craft Your Life Declaration TODAY!
