It’s pretty crazy that when I first began using these techniques I would never have imagined that one day I would be teaching it to hundreds of women.

I was just a single mom with two small kids trying to reach a few goals; my main focus was to put food on the table.  At the time I had no formal training, I just started creating a system to set a few goals and then track them through completion; I figured everyone else must be doing the same things I was doing.

Little did I know that the results I was getting were WAY beyond normal… and the strategies I was using would become the She Dared To Framework… and one day it would literally transform the lives of many.

Fast forward to today… and it’s even more shocking.  Since I started mentoring women using this formula in 2013; my clients have paid off debt, successfully gotten kids into the college of their dreams, built self-confidence, retired early, started to dream again, gone on a bucket-list vacation, authored and illustrated a children’s book and so much more.

I still can’t believe this all started in an office building off Saratoga Avenue in Cupertino California when the CEO of the company I was working for said, “you’ll never make it, you aren’t good enough.”

What’s even cooler than proving him wrong… is watching those I’ve coached along the way create their life declarations – and achieve some pretty amazing accomplishments.

I knew this method worked for career progression, because I used it to go from a position in accounting with no sales background to one of the top paid Account Directors in 2012.

Soon after I started teaching these principles to others, I realized that my clients, co-workers, friends and even a boss were using them to structure their goals – and reaching them too!

It’s been a wild ride, and I’ve been very blessed to be able to share my answers with so many incredible people.  I love teaching this stuff!  My all-time favorite emails are those that say “I did it!”

In any case… let’s roll.  But first, a warning…

In this image, you’ll see the BIG PICTURE of a Life declaration.  One that was created during a She Dared To Retreat this year.  This declaration was created over the entire weekend, a weekend in which we dove into setting your mindset, strategy, passion, goals, dreams and the commitment to get it done! I’m sharing it with you to inspire what’s deep inside of you…

Let’s get started!

As simple as it sounds, a life declaration starts with a few simple questions.  The answers to these questions will lay a foundation for designing a life you are utterly in love with.  Trust me, when you answer these questions from the core of who you are as a person it will be an eye-opening experience.  My only caveat is to dig deep – answer these questions at a surface level and you will cheat yourself and cheat others of your contribution to this world.

Let’s start with what a declaration even is.  It’s more than just a couple of sentences thrown together.

Declaration
[dek-luhrey-shuh n]

A positive, explicit, or formal statement; proclamation.

It’s a statement, a vow, a notice, a bulletin, a manifesto.  When we take the concept of declaration and add the word life in front of it, essentially it becomes a document in which you are proclaiming the things you hold true, what you are willing to fight for and what the pursuit of happiness means to you.  No two life declarations are the same.

What values and beliefs do you hold true?

It’s amazing to me how different these answers are from person to person.  One may value balance while another excitement, one values beauty and another belonging.   Here are a few examples to get your creative juices flowing:  Accomplishment, Ambition, Appreciation, Attentive, Balance, Belonging, The Best, Bold, Capable, Cheerful, Clever, Collaboration, Dependability, Determined, Devotion, Dreaming, Effective, Empathy, Empowering, Ethical to name a few.

What values will be at the foundation of your life declaration?

Core beliefs are thoughts we believe to be true and influence how we interpret experiences, events and circumstances.  Often time core beliefs shape how we see ourselves, others and the world in which we live.  Beliefs impact our self-confidence, image, self-esteem and our outcomes.  They are a bit trickier to nail down than our values.  In any case, grab a piece of paper and pen.  Spend some time over the next couple of days journaling your internal conversations.  They key is to focus on the positive beliefs about you and your life.

What beliefs will help you chart the course for the next 10 years?

In next week’s blog, we will dive into Part II… “Who is a part of your declaration?”
